Community Presentations

A Mission Adopt-A-Block representative is available for presentations to local community groups, school groups, businesses and other.

Litter is an all-encompassing problem that requires dynamic and versatile solutions.  A Mission Adopt-A-Block representative can come discuss & define the physical, social, economic and environmental problems of litter – to work with community groups to identify the many sources that contribute to the amount of litter found in the environment – and to work together with community groups to develop strategies on how to prevent or deal with the litter problems in Mission.

Presentations are also available on; community involvement, volunteer opportunities, the society's education program, litter control for Mission businesses and other.

Mission Adopt-A-Block's mascots can make an appearance at your group event to; give presentations, to promote litter awareness, to teach kids about litter control and to inspire individuals/groups to develop solutions to environmental problems.

Other Community Events

Mission is known as the City of Festivals and Mission Adopt-A-Block makes it a priority to be present at several community events. However, the society's participation at local events varies throughout the year - You can check out all the festivals and activities that take place throughout the calendar year on the District of Mission’s web site under the 'community events'. This page is a good resource for contact information for events like the Soap Box Derby, Children’s Festival, Twilight Concert Series and more.

Mission Adopt-A-Block & The Mission Archives

In the summer 2006, the Mission Archives accepted Mission Adopt-A-Block's historical papers, photographs and other assorted materials as the first donation received from a Mission environmental group AND community non-profit organization.

The Mission Adopt-A-Block submits a yearly donation of the society's litter control program records, such as newspaper clippings, photographs, minutes, and more. Not only is this an important contribution to Mission's historical archives but all archives are accessible to the public through Mission Archives.

Mission Adopt-A-Block invites all volunteers who have litter stories and/or photographs of their Adopt-A-Block litter control experiences to submit them to the society so that they may be included in the yearly donation to the archives (in January each year).

For those that contribute to the Archives, this is not only an opportunity to be included in the legacy of Mission as a Mission Adopt-A-Block volunteer, but included in the history of Mission overall. If you have any other questions regarding the Mission Archives, you can contact The Mission Archives at mca@missionarchives.ca
